Collage of 30 Years of WRIS Web Services

WRIS Web Services began in 1996 when founder Charlie Meyers saw the potential of a rapidly emerging internet and launched Western Reserve Internet Services as a small, part-time venture in Northeast Ohio. What started as dial-up access and basic hosting quickly evolved into website development, server infrastructure, and application programming as WRIS grew from a log home in Newbury to offices across the Cleveland area. By the early 2000s, the company was already supporting major projects, including the 2000 U.S. Figure Skating Nationals, and expanding into SEO, digital marketing, ecommerce, and ColdFusion-based development.

Over the years, WRIS became known for building reliable, scalable web applications, supporting high-traffic ecommerce systems, and providing expert ColdFusion development when few others could. As client needs diversified, WRIS expanded into WordPress for small and mid-sized businesses while also becoming a nationally trusted partner for legacy ColdFusion support and enterprise-level platforms. Growth led to a distributed team across the country, and in 2020 WRIS formally became a fully remote company — increasing both flexibility and reach without losing its Midwest roots.

Today, as WRIS celebrates 30 years, the company is focused on what’s next: revitalizing its website and WordPress practice, sharpening its marketing strategy, and driving a new wave of web application development through The ATOM, its modern ColdFusion-based platform. None of this would be possible without the clients, partners, and friends who have trusted and supported WRIS over the past three decades — and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey.
